Book Review: Heaven In Her Arms

In this inspiring, easy-to read book, Catharine Hickem reveals to the reader the importance of the life of Mary in a refreshing, inspiring manner rarely found.
''Mary was there the day Jesus was born and she was there the day he was crucified. Her story is deep and rich and has myriad lessons for any woman—mothers, daughters, sisters, friends.
Mary’s story reveals that a woman’s heart is important to the Father.''
As I read this book, I was affected deeply by what a wonderful example Mary is to women today; to me.
I think it is important for Christians to read about Mary, and to realize how humble, trusting, prayerful, godly she was. Not to worship her as do other religions, but to see what God saw in her.
Before reading this book, there were things I hadn't even considered about Mary's life and heart. I never realized how Mary's world would have been turned upside down by the news the angel brought her! Yet she trusted God, young as she was, and continued in her close relationship with Him.
In this book, you will be inspired in your role as a woman! Whether you be a teenager, young woman, married woman, mother or grandmother, this book will prove a teaching tool and inspiration to you.
Enjoy.

Book Review: Heaven in Her Arms

Heaven in her Arms

Heaven in her Arms Why God Chose Mary to Raise His Son and What It Means for You

By Catherine Hickem

''Mary was there the day Jesus was born and she was there the day he was crucified. Her story is deep and rich and has myriad lessons for any woman—mothers, daughters, sisters, friends.
Mary’s story reveals that a woman’s heart is important to the Father.''

This book was incredibly inspiring to me, as a daughter, sister, friend and hopefully mother someday!!! Read it; you will not be disappointed.

Here are a few quotes from the wonderful book:

''Mary's life will remind us that there are no accidents in God's divine plan for His daughters.''

''There is freedom to be found in understanding your relationship to your mother through the lens of God's intentions.''

Mary didn't have social position, wealth or power. In fact, she was quite young! But God knew her heart was pure and trusting and she passionately loved Him.

''God wanted His Son, the king of kings, to come from a humble woman so that the entire world could relate. ''

''I believe God selected Mary because she had a heart after His.''

''Fear surfaces when we realize that life may not go as we planned.''

''Mary never forgot angel's message: 'The Lord is with you'.

'Mary knew her life wasn't her own.

''Mary understood that there was no better place to be than in a place of obedience to God's plan and will.

Book Review: The Truth About Forgiveness

The Truth About Forgiveness by John MacArthur
paperback 2012

Do we have the power to ever forgive ourselves? Certainly not! In this small book, the author explains very clearly and concisely that we are all sinners, and that every person needs true forgiveness : the forgiveness and grace of God.
‘’The good news about salvation starts with the bad news about sin.’’
I loved how this book begins with force: explaining how guilty we are as sinful humans, and then through the remaining chapters explaining about God’s amazing forgiveness us-ward, and ending with how we in turn are to show forgiveness towards our fellow men.
God doesn’t love us because of who we are; He loves us in SPITE of who we are!
‘’There can be no salvation for those who AREN’T convinced of the SERIOUSNESS of their sin.’’
I was overjoyed to finally review a book where I had no complaints about the author’s doctrine or beliefs! This was a marvelous little book; easy to finish in just a few hours, but very deep and able to impact the reader, whether he be saved or unsaved. I enjoyed the font, the length of the book as well as the writing style. I appreciated John MacArthur’s in-depth explanation of several new testament accounts. Read this book- you will not be disappointed. Rather, you will be convicted.

Life

We all want life....a beautiful, healthy, happy, content life!

But the truth is, there is no life apart from Christ! Without Him, you are living a spiritually dead life. You can have no real joy, happiness, peace, contenment, purpose or fulfillment to your life!
It sounds harsh, but it is so true.

Without Christ, there is no truth, either!

John 18:38
Pilate saith unto Him, ''What is truth''?

When Jesus is not your Saviour and Lord, you have no truth! Because He IS Truth!
There is no truth apart from Jesus Christ, and we need to know Him.
To know Him, we have to realize our depraved sin nature, and go to the Lord humbly and in total repentance of our sin.

Acts 2:28
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; Thou shalt make me full of joy with Thy countenance.

JOY, PEACE, CONTENMENT, FULFILLMENT, PURPOSE, TRUTH, BEAUTY are all found through a relationship with Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour!

To my brothers and sisters in Christ: Are you finding your fulfillment in Jesus? Are you joyful, content, willing to serve Him? Are you cultivating your relationship with the Lord? Are you serving Him to your utmost- or just hoping He will accept your meager acts of service? Are you glorifying Him through the way you live each day? Even down to the way we carry ourselves, the way we talk, the way we take care of our bodies....all this reflects our relationship with our Saviour.
I want to encourage you if you have become discouraged, that through Christ we CAN have victory over the flesh! I can't wait to share more of my thoughts with you throughout the coming months.

May you be blessed today as you strive to serve the Lord MORE!
